Adjoining the owners’ home, with lovely walking from the doorstep, it makes an ideal base from which to explore the numerous places of interest on this beautiful island. Bembridge, its natural harbour crammed with yachts and houseboats, Brading Roman Villa, Carisbrooke Castle and Osborne House – the summer home designed by Prince Albert for Queen Victoria in the 1840s – are all well worth a visit, as are the island’s steam railway, the zoo and the busy yachting centre of Cowes. Riding and golf close by. Shop and pub 0.5 miles.

Reviews
The Galley is very much a home from home with everything you need provided. There is parking space immediately by the front door and plenty of open spaces which are ideal for walks (and doggie-walkies!).
The location is very convenient for all the attractions on the Island and, if needed, a large supermarket (Morrisons) is only about five minutes away by car on the way to Sandown. This location is just perfect as witness our third visit. The Owners are most helpful, friendly and knowledgeable about the Island. Also very doggie-friendly!!
All in all, perfect.

Excellent self catering accommodation, just like being at home. We regularly holiday in self catering and this is one of the best. The location is very quiet but not too isolated. It is fairly close to the beaches and importantly when going self catering, a major supermarket.

It may be just a short ferry ride from the mainland, but the journey to the Isle of Wight seems to carry you back to a calmer, more peaceful way of life. Over half of the Isle of Wight is a designated Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty, and with more than 500 miles of footpaths, it’s easy to make the most of the unspoilt countryside here. There are excellent beaches all round the island, with Alum Bay a particular favourite because of its highly unusual multicoloured cliffs. The main coastal resorts are Sandown, Shanklin, Ventnor, Yarmouth and Ryde, all within easy reach of our holiday cottages in the Isle of Wight, and each offers everything you need for a traditional seaside holiday. Make sure you pay a visit to Osborne House, built as a holiday getaway for Queen Victoria and Prince Albert, which is still very much as they left it. Carisbrooke Castle also has royal connections – it was used a prison for Charles 1 in the aftermath of the Civil War.
